Merlin WCD

When the government needed an answer for how much oil spilled in the aftermath of Macondo they called Gemini Solutions. Since then we have created an extensive series of tools to accurately model Worst Case Discharge events.

Expert Workflows

Our Worst Case Discharge workflow tools are the result of extensive work helping government and industry engineers create accurate simulation models of Worst Case Discharge events. There is a Merlin model behind every well permitted to drill in the Gulf of Mexico since Macondo occurred in May 2010.

Build a WCD in minutes

Filling out a simple spreadsheet with geology and fluid data is all that is needed to build most WCD models. If you can pull together the depth, thickness, porosity, permeability, water saturation, rock compressibility, API/Gas Gravity, and temperature for each horizon drilled through into a spreadsheet that's all you need to build a base WCD model.

Quickly apply tubing curves

To accurately model a WCD scenario both reservoir model and tubing model must be integrated. Using Avalon tubing curves can be quickly created from proposed well schematics to model fluids moving through different sizes of casing at different rates and pressures between the sea floor and the reservoir.
